Surveys
Joining the
technical complexity of a car or airplane with the one-off customisability of a
construction project, ships and boats are remarkable pieces of engineering. The
complexity and the budget involved in a yacht project are such that an owner is
obliged to look over the builder’s shoulder. As shipyards work with lots of
subcontractors, they usually encourage the active involvement of an owner in
the building or refit process (unless they are aware they do a poor quality
job). The reason is simple: a problem
detected early on, is not a problem.
It is therefore crucial that an owner
carries out his own drawing approval and has his own surveyor(s) in the yard,
as it is standard in commercial shipbuilding.
Innomare works as a marine surveyor,
either directly for an owner or as part of the project management team.
