The owner’s representative (OR) acts as a facilitator in the yard during the newbuilding or refit process. Preferably involved at the early stages, the OR is very much aware of the wishes and priorities of the owner. The OR participates in the yard meetings on behalf of the owner and keeps the owner informed on the progress of the job. The OR is just a call or e-mail away for the owner to answer any questions the owner may have, and just a call away for the yard’s project manager to answer any question the yard may have. In essence, the OR makes the build process smoother and takes care that no unasked or unanswered questions turn into problems at a later stage.
